How to play roulette online
If you want to learn to play roulette online you must first get acquainted to the basics.
Roulette is a game of chance not of skill, and one of the most popular European games. The game became popular in France in the 1700s and 1800s mostly in luxurious gambling parlors in Monte Carlo. In an attempt to relieve economic pressure, rules of the time reinstated gambling in Monte Carlo and the game became extremely popular amongst the aristocrats of Europe.
It was the 1900s when the roulette game was brought to the US, but its popularity level from before wasn’t reached. The game is played slightly different in the US, as it has one extra slot, numbered 00.
Basic info about the Roulette game
Roulette involves a spinning wheel with 37 (in Europe) or 38 (in the US) numbered pockets colored in red and black, a ball that will be thrown onto the spinning wheel and a betting table. The object of the game is to correctly predict the pocket where the ball is going to land.
The numbers of the pockets go from 1 to 36 and a zero, or, for American Roulette, from 1 to 36, plus a single zero and a double zero. The numbers alternate between pairs of odd and even numbers and between red and black. The Zero and Double Zero slot is always green and the ball is always thrown on the opposite direction of the one in which the wheel is spinning.
Once the ball has entered a pocket, the wheel is stopped and the winning number is determined.
There are two main types of roulette bets, each of them described in detail below:
Straight bet: you bet on one particular number on the wheel.
Split bet: you bet that one of two adjacent numbers on the table will win.
Street bet: you bet that any number in a particular row on the table will win
Corner bet: also known as square bets or four number bets, this is when you bet on a group of four numbers that are all touching on the table.
Five number bet: this is available only for American roulette and it is the bet you make on either one of the 0, 00, 1, 2 or 3.
And outside bets
Column bet: you bet that any of the numbers in a particular column will win
Dozen bet: you bet on one of these three sections in which the table will be divided: 1 – 12, 13- 24; 25- 36
Red bet: you bet on the red color of the pocket instead of its number
Black bet: you bet on the black color of the pocket instead of its number
Even bet: you bet that the next number will be even
Odd bet: you bet that the next number will be odd
High bet: you bet that the next number will be one ranging from 19 – 36
Low bet: you bet that the next number will be one ranging from 1 – 18
